Why Doula?

Birth and postpartum have always been a sacred experience, deeply rooted in support, connection, and care. Birth was a rite of passage where women were surrounded by trusted community members who provided guidance, comfort, and reassurance. Today, while our understanding of medical care has advanced, the personal and emotional aspects of welcoming a child are often overlooked in a clinical setting. This is where a doula becomes invaluable.

    Sarah is an absolute gem of a human. My husband and I were kinda late to getting a doula but she wasted no time sending us all the facts and stats (we love data!) to make educated and informed decisions. During labor and delivery, she collaborated with our nurses by suggesting different positions and alternate courses of action. She has a very calming presence in general but especially in the chaos that is delivery. She also somehow managed to photograph some very special moments during this whirlwind! She stayed to make sure we were all ok after I had postpartum hemorrhaging and regularly checked in on us afterward. I fully intend to have her come back for postpartum doula help too :) Sarah is truly wonderful and will definitely improve your birth experience!! -Allison

    Having Sarah be a part of my team for my first home birth made it such an amazing experience. She was so kind and intuitive, it was almost as if she knew what I was going to need before I did. Having her there to help me through labor allowed my husband to be there next to me the whole time giving us such special moments we didn't have with our other births. During our golden hour that my husband and I spent with our baby, without us even asking she started a load of laundry and brought my husband an ice pack for his ankle he had sprained one day prior. Hey! Nice to meet you.

My name is Sarah, and I provide individualized, compassionate support to women and families in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
For me, birth work is about filling the gaps where modern maternity medicine falls short. How we care for families at birth sets the standard of how we can treat families-period.
Just like you, my family is everything to me. After five years in early education, I developed a passion for supporting families with evidence-based care. As a first responder and trained birth assistant, I saw the gaps in modern medicine and the importance of empathetic patient care. Birthwork was a natural calling for me- activism through perinatal support. Showing up for families in birth and postpartum has long-lasting effects on expectations and outcomes in the maternity field, and I am THRILLED to be apart of it!
