Why Doula?
In clinical settings, Doulas are proven to reduce the need for pain relief, lower the C-section rate, and improve overall birth satisfaction. Doulas are a cultural norm in most of the world. Birth is to be embraced, not feared. An established community that focuses on building up the mother is essential for a positive birth experience, regardless of expected birth outcomes. In Western medicine, women are often shocked when they learn how little support the hospital can offer them at the time of delivery, especially through an unmedicated delivery.
Every birthing person, and every family, can benefit from doula support. Regardless of your birth plan, bringing a new life into the world is unpredictable, vulnerable, and difficult. A doula supports the spiritual transition into motherhood where normal prenatal care falls short. Each birthing person deserves to feel calm in the birth room, and as a doula, I am to make that space.
Specific family types may benefit more from doula care. Are you:* experiencing an unplanned pregnancy?* experiencing a complicated pregnancy?*single parent?*far from family?*have specific birth goals?*struggling with mental health?
